On a humid Saturday evening, in a lush garden, after a photo session…a quick chat with Maco Monthervil, of The Lovers Key!
1) Name your two greatest influences in music:
My childhood music teacher, Maestro Pierre Aristil…his piano pla…ying taught me how to sing. No one can embellish a song like him….and when he saw I could sing, he gave me my first studio experience, at age 15
Sarah Vaughan, because she never sang a song the same way, twice…and that’s a skill that separates singers and entertainers, from musicians and artists.
2) Name one song you wish you had written:
Amy’s “Love Is a Losing Game”. That song seems really fragile, but it’s actually quite declarative, and bold, with those statements about how horrible love can be…wait…can we squeeze in Atlantic Starr’s “Always”? That song will either make you want to be in love, or hate the couples who are.
3) Cite one random fact about you:
Uh…it’s not a “fact” per se…more like…an assumption, or self-diagnosis. I’m pretty sure I have synesthesia. It’s the condition where numbers, days, names, and sounds are assigned colors, in a person’s head…so, when I hear “Monday”, I see a faint blue…but Sunday is gold, the name Paul is maroon, and the number 4 is dark green. I know…
4) What would you like to say to the supporters of TLK?
Thank you…the music will say everything else.
